Mas Palomas

This is one of my most favorite editorials. The photos are from Mas Palomas for Fantastic Man magazine by Berlin-based photographer Benjamin Huseby and styled by Jodie Barnes.

Neutral colors that camouflage nudists in the beach of Canary Islands, Spain.

I believe that editorials should tell a story. Or in this case, a reminder to myself .

Sometimes, I don’t need to imbibe what is normal in order to be associated. All I need to do is to re-invent, re-think or re-style. If all else fails, just appreciate differences, be innate, and move on.

down and up

The cliche is “up and down”. But let me put it in the other way around and allow me to borrow a quote from one of my style icon Johnny Depp.

“I’d just thank the people out there who have been with my down-and-up ( originally up-and-down), weird-road, strange career and supported me and stuck with me all these years. I mean, they’re my boss. That’s what keeps me working.”

To readers and everyone I photographed! :)

Fashionising

One of the many ways that I get fulfillment from maintaining a street fashion site is when a fashion website, such as fashionising, selects a photo and include it in their street style section together with other photos from JakandJil, Vanessa Jackman, Sartorialist, etc. When I see incoming links and page views from fashionising, it gives me relief and satisfaction. It also reminds me to continue enjoying what I am doing.

For the past months, I thought of giving up street fashion blogging. After running it for more than two years, I think it is time to give up or take a break from it as I have other priorities in life and I have other things that I do. I do my laundry, I iron my clothes, I work, and I live alone.

But the more I learn about street photography, the more that I am loving the adventure of going out on weekend; taking random photos from shoes to bags, and approaching people whose fashion and style catch my eye. And when people appreciate the photos I took of them, it gives me encouragement and maybe a pat on my back.

Oh, before this post becomes a novel, I better run now. It is laundry time, midnight laundry time! :)

hanging in a moment

Why do I like wearing boots? Because I walk tall. Literally and figuratively.

Since then

My current favorite words are minimal, classic and elegance. Or maybe since then. I ponder.
